Satu Mare, the host town of the International Choral Festival – 5th edition – lies in the North-West of Romania, one of the most beautiful historic and geographic regions of our country.
The festival offers to lovers of music from all over the world a place to meet around different experiences in choral music and musical traditions in order to promote mutual understanding and raise cultural awareness among people and peoples.
Arranged as a week of choral music with workshops, concerts, choral evenings and tourist activities, the 5th edition of the festival will take place between the 21th and 25th of August 2009.
WORKSHOPS will be planned daily from 9.00 to 12.30 and 14.30 - 16.00.
The participants can choose a workshop out of the list and put it down in the application form (subject to availability).
CONCERTS of the participating choirs are held every day from 16.30 to 18.30.
CHORAL EVENINGS – the meeting place for all the participants – take place in the open, beginning with 8.30 p.m., at the "Summer Theatre".(SOMESUL)
THE FORUM is a space meant for the meeting of conductors, choir singers and representatives of different choirs. The programme of the forum focuses on conferences on education and choir management, guided by the conductor Ioan Oarcea, president of ARCC - in the rooms of "I. Slavici" College.
CHORAL HERITAGE – NORBERT OTT:"THE MISSION", with the accompaniament of orchestra, sing by all those who are familiar with the score ;
TOURIST DAY – August 23st. The participants can visit museums, monuments, churches and cathedrals in Satu Mare or they can visit the Museum from Negresti Oas, the Castle from Carei, the Fortress from Mediesu Aurit, the Thermal Baths in Beltiug and Tasnad, the Monastery from Rohia and Bixad and the Happy Cemetery from Sapanta. Sunday the chorists will be able to take part at the Traditional Folklore Festival from Oteloaia.
Those wishing to go on trips will be announced in the 22th of August 2009, at I. Slavici College.
The Festival is open to all choirs and all individual singers.
